For my painting Journey to Joy, I used an upcycled bicycle as a metaphor of the journey we all take to find balance, peace and joy in our lives. The journey is fraught with sorrows, dangers, challenges, and emotional battles. We climb those mountains time and time again. Why? For those moments of pure bliss at the top of the mountain. At the top there is rest, balance, and joy beyond imagine. Without the struggles of the journey the reward wouldn’t be nearly as sweet. So we pause and take it all in for a breath, maybe two, until our eyes focus on the next mountain. So we stretch out our legs and climb back on our bikes and head back down to conquer the next challenges and fight the dragons along our way. Maybe a cyclops lives on the next mountain. Now wouldn’t that be an adventure.
